Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information the Konichua app (“the app”, “we”)
collects, how it is used, and your choices. By using the app you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account information — when you sign in with Google we receive your name,
email address and profile photo.
- Health & fitness data you enter or track — steps, distance, walking
sessions, body weight and measurements, food/calorie and water logs, goals and badges.
- Location data — during an active walk we use your device’s GPS to
record your route and distance. Location is only collected while a walk session is running.
- Health Connect data — with your permission, we read your daily step and
distance totals from Android Health Connect. We do not write data to Health Connect.
- Profile photo — a photo you choose is uploaded to our storage so it can
sync across your devices.
How we use your information
- To provide core features: tracking, dashboards, history, nutrition and goals.
- To sync your data across your devices.
- To power challenges and leaderboards. If you join a challenge, your name,
profile photo and score are visible to other participants.
- To send you reminders and announcements you have enabled.
We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore and
Cloud Storage). Map display uses the Google Maps SDK. These providers process data
under their own privacy policies. Crash diagnostics are collected via Firebase Crashlytics to help
us fix problems.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account
and all associated data at any time from within the app:
Profile → Account → Delete account. This removes your stored profile, walks,
weight, nutrition logs, badges, profile photo and challenge entries, and deletes your sign-in
account. To request deletion by email instead, contact us below.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Your choices
- You can revoke location or Health Connect permissions in your device settings at any time.
- You can turn off reminder notifications in the app or your device settings.
- You can delete your account as described above.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the
“Last updated” date above.
